Our efforts began in 2020 during a year of change and hardship for many, but especially for immigrant families in Gallatin Valley. A core group of volunteers saw a need and put on a winter clothing drive for new families from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico. Word soon traveled around the Bozeman community that there was much more potential to get to know our new neighbors and help connect them to essential services and resources.
Spanish speaking families have made this valley their home for decades, but we have seen tremendous growth in the community over the past two years. There is now a need for more mentors as the number of families in need has outgrown our current volunteer base.
Our organization is composed entirely of volunteers who serve as mentors who work directly with families. We also have volunteers that serve on the Board of Directors and as participants in task forces to meet emerging needs. We have accomplished so much thanks to the efforts of our volunteers and board members, and organizational partners. Currently, over 80 volunteers serve 40 families.
We are aiming to go beyond reliance on all volunteers towards a more sustainable and robust model to welcome new families and support current and new mentors. We have received our 501(c)3 non-profit status and are excited to gain your support in expanding our efforts! As we grow, dedicated staff will help us accomplish our mission and continue to welcome new families to Gallatin Valley.
